Hummer Tours

It’s one thing to explore the red rock playground of Moab by foot, but imagine climbing up a 60-degree incline in a Hummer H1 to get to some of the best views around of the Colorado River, Arches National Park, Moab Valley, and, off in the distance, the La Sal Mountains. No matter the car that brought you on your road trip to Moab, Hummer tours let you leave it behind for a real adventure. The H1 makes short work of many obstacles, easily maneuvering up and over petrified sand dunes and cruising in and out of canyons with no problem.

The best way to try your hand at off-roading expeditions is by going through one of the local tour companies, like Moab Adventure Center. Their helpful tour guides are known for their great hospitality and vast knowledge of the area, and their calm demeanors slightly help to ease the butterflies in your stomach — they can get pretty feisty when you can’t see the other side of the hill as your vehicle tips over and cruises down. Take a seat, strap in, hold on, and get ready for a heart-pounding experience!

The Slickrock Safari is Moab Adventure Center’s most popular two-hour tour. This journey will have you crawling up the amazing rock features found along the Hell’s Revenge 4x4 Trail in the Sand Flats Recreation Area east of Moab. As the Hummer cruises through cool sandstone canyons and scales petrified dunes, you will learn about the geology and history of this place and how these unique landscape features came to be. This safari is well-known for its breathtaking views of the valleys and park below.

If you are looking for a little more adventure, go with the four-hour Grand Safari Tour, which heads into Moab’s red rock country. Scenic views of the Colorado and Moab Valleys are guaranteed as you travel past the bare sandstone cliffs and through valleys. If there are at least six people in your group, you can customize your trip to follow one of the several cool 4x4 trails that Moab is famous for.

If you’ve been out adventuring all day, you can wrap up your adventures with a Sunset Safari Tour — sit back and let the Hummer do the all the work. Traveling along Hell’s Revenge 4x4 Trail, you will learn about the history of the Canyonlands area and its unique geology. Eventually, you will arrive at a perfect sunset viewing location where, you can share some hors d’oeuvres with friends or family. Seeing the setting sun light up the desert sky and red rocks is well worth the journey. After sunset, you will load up the H1, and slowly make your back to town under a twilight sky.
