Gunlock State Park
Things To Do
-
Boating and Watersports
Gunlock Reservoir’s warm, calm waters are ideal for boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing and swimming. You can bring your boat and water toys or easily rent them onsite or at a local shop. While it’s a smaller lake than others in the Greater Zion area, the reservoir still has plenty of space for speed boats and jet skis.
-
Camping
Five primitive campsites overlook the reservoir and beach camping is also available. All sites are first-come, first-served. Gunlock State Park campgrounds are pet-friendly and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite is equipped with a table, fire ring and grate and has access to vault toilets and a boat ramp. The campgrounds do not have potable or running water, so bring plenty of clean water for drinking, cooking and cleaning.
-
Fishing
Gunlock State Park is home to largemouth bass, crappie bluegill, rainbow trout and channel catfish. It’s the perfect spot for fishing, whether you’re a seasoned angler or trying a new hobby. Utah fishing licenses are required and three-day and seven-day permits are available.
-
Gunlock State Park Waterfalls
A visit to Gunlock State Park would be incomplete without seeing its famous waterfalls. To see clear water cascade over stunning red rocks, plan your trip during the late spring, as that’s when the falls run. You can check the Utah State Parks website for updated information about the waterfalls and plan accordingly.
