Addendum to MIC

The wealthy class (Military Industrial Complex and the 1%) owns the media, they know how to influence White Protestant/Catholic Churches which includes the LDS Church and other religious groups (especially fundamentalists and other zealots) to support their cause (which is the maintain the status quo) by keeping us fighting other nations, wars which benefit them financially. All the while, their propaganda encourages us to fight each other. Add to that a poor education system that creates more ignorance and mis or no accurate information, and ...there you have it. Truth is, there are many educated Americans that will not stand for it, in the end! I just hope it does not lead to civil war which I think the wealthy class is encouraging (while they fly away in their private jets) until the war ends. Then they can come and reclaim everything and put slaves to work putting everything in place again...for themselves!

Don't Forget the Military Industrial Complex

I am very troubled by what I am seeing on FB this morning as it  pertains to guns, war, and military. I see people confusing and mixing patriotism in with the above. I strongly believe WW II was a just war, and I am proud of what our country did in halting the death squads of Nazi facism. WW II Vets are my heroes! That does not mean I am gung ho for war today. I agree with former President Eisenhower when he warned about the military industrial complex. They have been getting rich on wars ever since...on the backs of the poor. Many of these vets leave their homes poor, many suffer mental (PTSS) and physical harm (loss of limbs, etc.), and many of course never return.  Most return home with reduced benefits, they become poor again. Think about it!

To make things worse, we mix race relations to complicate the picture. The truth is, no matter how the picture looks, most Americans value the beliefs of fairness which this country stands for more than racial identity or anything; and we will fight for it no matter what color our skin is. We really are Americans first but few believe! When we lack accurate information, fear and hate take over and rule. The true patriots are those that see beyond skin color and misinformation; they understand that the true enemy is, in fact, ignorance and greed...which leads to fear, hate and the misperceived need to  control!

My Thoughts on Racism in America

First of all, the first Americans were not white…they were brown, the color of most people (some lighter, some darker) in the world. Secondly, during the U.S. colonial period, Euro-Americans kidnapped and enslaved other dark skinned people and brought them to this country. Although most (90% in some cases) were killed off, mostly due to diseases brought over by Euro-Americans; we (native people) are still here.  Regarding that latter group, there is some responsibility here that needs to be acknowledged, especially for those misinformed folks who believe “Black folks need to return to Africa.” They did not come here of their free volition! They were forced here and inhumanly treated by the ancestors of today's White folks. In some cases, they continue to be mistreated, even to this day.

Where do people get the idea that America is a white nation? Granted, the majority of the people in the U.S. are, in fact, white; but that does not make it a white nation. When we send representatives of the U.S. to the Olympics or off to war or say the NFL or NBA, are they all white? No, it only means that white folks are the majority; and ...that may not be for long. At the present rate, white folks we soon be the minority, perhaps during the next generation. Perhaps that is the real reason white folks are so concerned: They are no longer be in control! To me, when I hear a White person say, "We want our county back", that means they want a White President! Preferably a Whiteman!

What does this mean? It simply means that we need to learn from the past and learn to live with one another, simple as that. Besides, who is really in control? Are white folks really in control in the first place? My perception is that following WWII middle class White folks "were in control", but that is no longer the case. By most accounts the middle class is shrinking and losing power every day. They are becoming the lower class; in some cases, many of them constitute the poverty class. White folks are becoming poorer and poorer by the day, and they are blaming it on anyone available at the moment – immigrants, the darker races (Blacks, Mexicans), Muslims, or anyone that does not fit the mold. I can understand some of this but not all of it. A quality education and accurate information makes all the difference for me. Otherwise, I would be just as mean and spiteful.

The way I see it, it is the wealthy class or the 1% who are in control. These are the folks that stash their money in off shore banks, they can afford legal expertise to avoid paying their fair share of taxes, they buy votes in the U.S. Congress (thanks to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling), and refuse to pay a decent wage to their employees with benefits to keep their employees (many of them white folks) on federal assistance. They could care less about their poor white brothers and sisters. They only want more and more money, power, and influence. This way they can keep the poor dogs fighting among themselves for scraps. Yup, they have it all set up so well…and we are falling for it.
